Okay, for a long time, Aaron and I have been talking about adding to our family!
A dog silly!
We've just put off and put off! We are ready, and then we aren't so ready!
Whose gonna potty train? Whose gonna get up at 5:30AM?
Well, we've FINALLY decided that the time is right at the beginning of the new year!
So, here's the deal!
Origanlly, we wanted a Brittany Spaniel!
They are BEAUTIFUL!
Brittany Spaniels are bird hunting dogs! [Figures] But they are very sweet, well trained dogs! Aaron says he wants a dog that will obey him and choose him over a bone, unlike our Shih Tuz, Jackson! Here's the issue, do we want to spend $650 on a dog? Hmmm...
Option # 2 - Aaron's Heart, An English Springer Spaniel!
As a child, he had TWO Springer Spaniels that were his right hand man, his best friend! Oreo [black & white]was his first one! He did EVERYTHING with Aaron. Unfortunately, Oreo mysteriously went missing.
His second English Springer was Oreo's son, named Cookie! Cookie was also a best friend to him! But, NOTHING againist the black & white dogs... I really want a brown one! But we will see what we can get!
Here are the Springer Spaniels...
Okay, so there isn't MUCH of a difference, but the English Springers have a longer coat,
and they are cheaper!
Either way, they are beautiful & great companions!
We plan to send him to obedience school when he bring him home!

ReplyDeleteIf you go to the breed rescue you can still get one and it will be a lot cheaper.. it's what we did with our Malinois (she's a pure bred).. that and I just prefer rescues over breeders anyway..

ReplyDeleteWe have Springer Spaniels! I have one that looks exactly like the guy in your picture - his name is Mack. Then we have a big black one named Gus. I love the names you've picked out!

I voted for Charlie or Max. When I was naming my English Springer, I read somewhere that dogs respond better to names that end in an "e" sound...so that's how I chose Harry because I needed all the help I could get to train a dog by myself!
