It's kinda like the shirt before the shirt

So, today's the day! Well, not "THE day, but the day we're starting to set up for my mother in laws 50th birthday..Kinda like on Jersey SHore, the shirt before the shirt!!! Well, It's a surprise & the theme is the fifties. Aaron's family owes a big chunck of land. It used to be a campground, that started back in the 70's. His grand parents ran in. Well, it's not longer a camp ground, but it still has the building with the pool attached where everyone would bring their lunches & such to hang out. A lot of folks in our town get married here and have their reception. His grand parents have renovated alot and upgraded the inside & outside. ANYWAY, that's where we are having the party. All the homes are spread out, so you can't really see one house to the next, but Aaron's Mom is home ... ALL DAY. She lives the furtherest away from everyone else, but still. I am getting up today [where we live, she can see our home... and me leaving to go to work] and dressing as if I am headed to work. But, I am not. I'm going to Mama's, Like always and then leaving my car there and hitching a ride and Mama plans to help me all day. I don't have a clue what I would do without that woman! She's amazing. Aaron's grandma, Grammye, & his sister Bridget are going to get last minute stuff then coming back to join us. PRAY that our life size milkshakes, & life size popcorn holders hold up and work out. I'm a tad bit nervous about it. Have I told you about the pink cadiallc I made? IT'S AWESOME! Or I think it is. I made it where people can take pictures behind it. Anyway, I'm sure I won't be around to blog much, forgive me. But tomorrow is is BUSY day. Did I tell you that my Step-dad's is having his surprise party too? I know, right? His daughters decided to throw him one. It just so happened to be on the same night. Their birthdays are two days apart. So, I'll be surprising my dad @ 5PM then headed over to my MIL party to surprise her. The funny thing is, it's a 50;s party too. Mrs. Kandi [Aaron's Mom] and his dad are attending as well. You think we are crazy, right? Well, that's how we've been able to keep it ALL on the "DL". Who would ever think Jessica would plan to important birthdays [parties] on the same night??? Well, I didn't have a choice in either of them, so ... It aint my fault! Oh, and we aren't dressing as Lucy & Ricky. [teardrop] I went yesterday to pick up my costume, I LOVED LUCYS outfit! It was so great, but then I tried on the wig. It was the most hidious thing I've ever seen. Plus, the dude made me wear one of those sock head things??? Oh no, what if my wig falls off??? It wasn't a pretty sight! So, we are being Sandy & Danny! You will have to wait and see pictures, I refuse to descibe what we plan to look like! Y'ALL have a GREAT weekend!
Hopefully I can upload some pictures on Sunday! I gotta go now... to work! :D

My Labor Day - Blog Hop

Hello Hello! How was everyones weekend?
Mine was SO wonderful! I don't think I've enjoyed my weekend as much as I did one!
This weeks Tuesday Three,
share THREE things you did over the weekend that you really enjoyed!
Don't forget to link up and meet knew friends.
I'm starting something new this week, I will draw one name from all the bloggers who link up, and they will host nexts weeks Tuesday Three.

  • I didn't wear make up all weekend! I know that sounds crazy, but EVERY WEEKEND I'm always running around doing a million things. This weekend, I relaxed and spent time at home. It was truely wonderful!

  • Aaron and I sat home on Saturday Night, decided to have a date at home. Which by far are my favorite. We cooked together; Steaks Baked Potatoes, & Salad.. Then stayed up watching old home videos! It was great!

  • Sunday, he took me crabbing! One of my FAVORITE outdoor events. I love it. I'm not a big fan of putting the baskets out and waiting on the crabs. I like to chicken verison. Then, after getting home we went to the store and bought stuff for a low country boil, and cooked it later that night today. We are BIG seafood fans.

20-25 Crabs

& a puffer fish! Only he wouldn't puff up!

It's been so great. With all the party planning going on and hunting seasoning coming up, we've been so busy... we spent SO much time together and it was really nice. There wasn't a place I "had" to be. I didn't have to do my hair, or put my face on... I relaxed, rested up, and spent amazing time with my favorite person! It was the best weekend I've had in a long time.
We have a CrAzY, busy... but fun weekend next weekend. It's his moms surprise party! I can't wait to share it with you!

GTKY - Under the Sea Edition

Getting to know YOU

Happy Sunday
Today's GTKY is a little different, it's the UNDER THE SEA edition!
[Cue in Sebastian from The Little Mermaid]

It's kind of ironic, because I'm fixing to walk out the door to go Crabbing w/ my Love! :D

1. Do you like seafood?
I do. I love ALL seafood. Especially Crab Legs.

2. Are mermaids hot?
Of course!

3. Have you swam in the ocean?
I have, all the time. The older I get, the more creeped out I am. I've watched way to many animal planet shows with Aaron and learned WAAY too much about what's out there.
[I'm headed to the ocean in about.... 10 minutes.]

4. If you got stung by a jellyfish, would you let a stranger pee on you?
Um, Probably not. Although it hurts really really bad.

5. Have you ever pee'd in the ocean?
Many of times. Sorry, I know it's not very nice.

6. Can you make a cute fish face? (Show a pic..if you want) I don't know if you'd call it "cute" but, yes I can.

7. When you see the lobster tank at the grocery store do you just have this overwhelming urge to set them free or cook them up? - Neither. My man loves lobster. THat's probably my least favorite seafood. But, I'll admit, I do not have teh urge to set them free.

8. Are you afraid of sharks?
Yes. They are not my favorite! But, I do LOVE Shark Week on the discovery channel. I think they are very interesting, but don't want any part of them. The BIGS ones a least. I've caught smaller ones!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
I know I sure am. It's been a wonderful one.

Costume NEEDED - 1950's Famous Icons

My Mother in Law, Kandi, her birthday is coming up, SOON! I am so excited. We are throwing her a SURPRISE 50's themed  party! It's going to be GREAT! We've been working very hard on hand making props! I can't WAIT to share what we have in store! Because I've been tied up with that, [& planning a baby shower & a class reunion all in the same month], that is my excuse for not blogging as much. Forgive me? Please? HA! I know Aaron is ready for it all to be over with! BUt, this party is going to be one of the BEST! She deserves it! She's the woman that does it ALL for everyone! I'm so thankful to have two Moms in my life that are so generous and open their hearts to everyone!

Okay, so here's the deal... It's a costume party! That's right, I said it! I've been COMPLETELY undecided about what I want to wear. I actually have an outfit that a girlfriend of mine happened to have. It looks something like this...
[Source from Google]

Our invitations that we chose for the party, [WERE AWESOME], had a little pink slip attached to it stating this:
It's an adult night out.
We hope you can come.
Leave the kids with a sitter,
and let's have some fun!
Get creative & play the part
as your favorite 50's or 60's
Sweetheart!

When Aaron's sister, Bridget told me she was dressing up as Marilyn Monroe, I thought, what an awesome idea. My mind started wondering...
It went directly to Audrey Hepburn, which is one of my favorite icons!

I found a site online telling how to play her part. It's SO simple, and I wouldn't really need to spend a lot of money.  Playing the Breakfast at Tiffanys Audrey, it said I needed:

  • a little black dress

  • Pearls - LOTS of them.

  • Black elbow-length gloves

  • A tiara

  • A beehive

  • Cats-eye eyeliner
I thought, oh yay! This is fun! I think I can pull it off... wait a minute, my hair isn't brown? Frown!!!
Oh well, I thought! I can do it still. It said not to worry about hair color. If I had all the above, I'd be good.

So then I started thinking about what Aaron could wear & who he could be. This is easy!
Guys are ALWAYS easy!
I googled Famous 50's male Icons
Of course you've got Elvis... Which Aaron's dad is playing his part!
Plus, He wouldn't play a good Elvis! So, I ran into this fella

James Dean -
Oh Yaaaay! Aaron SO could pull him off. Blonde hair, ragged looking!
Oh yeah, this is great!
It would've been even BETTER if I were Marilyn & he was James Dean. They had a little something something going on at one point! So, I looked up his Bio from Goolge to see how he was as a person.
Homosexual!
Okay, I have NOTHING, not ONE thing againist homosexuals, and neither does Aaron, in fact we have many gay friends. But I don't think he'd appreciate it if I had him dress as him and only to find out at the party he's playing a guy who swung both ways. That Xed him out! Frown, because he would've made a great James Dean!

Darn! What to do now!
The fact of dressing up as Audrey still was exciting, but really... I wanted to look like her. I needed my hair to be brown! :(

I kept looking!
I ran into Johnny Cash & June Carter!
Oh how fun! This is a great one! I LOVE their story!
This would be really good... but June has Brown Hair? Awwww... darn!

Then, I smiled BIGGER and my heart was set one the woman that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I loved her as a child. I love her now. She is never boring. She is fun. It's one of my FAVORITE T.V shows of all time!
Nobody could ever forget I Love Lucy

[i love this episode]

I asked Aaron, and he's up for it! Of course, he doesn't care most of the time! :D If I'm in for it, he usually is too!
I just have to think hard how I can find a poka dotta dress with sleeves & in that style! Aaron is simple, Although he looks NOTHING like Ricky Ricardo, hopefully we can still pull it off!

Alright, Whatcha think?
Do you think we can pull it off?
If you have any ideas or other famous icons that would be good, let me know! We haven't started looking yet for our costumes!
I'm SO excited!

Here are just a "few" of my very favorite episodes of
 I LOVE LUCY
