Day 4: Your Parents

I'm a small town, southern girl who is very close to her parents! Well... Kind of! I am a very lucky girl to have the parents I have and the relationship I share with them!
I think they are all great leaders and role models in different ways!

I'll start off by saying, my Mother, Ellen and my Daddy, Brian were high school sweethearts. They were each others firsts loves that married at an early age. They had my brother Brian, then my sister Kim, and then fives years after her, I was born! I was 9 months old when they divorced! My Daddy moved to the Virgin Islands, where his mother was. We talked occassionally, but it wasn't until 4 years later, he moved back, to Georgia!

My Mama:
She's the best person I know. Strong, Creative, Caring, generous, a great cook, beautiful on the inside & outside, helpful, puts others first, loves her family, and will do anything to make someone's day. She's the rock of my entire family. She's the person I want to be, the wife I want to be, and most of all, the Mom I want to be!

[My Sister Kim, Myself, Mama, & Brian]
I have always been a Mama's Girl! ALWAYS. Mama was a single Mom for a little while. I can remember the nights when she worked late, and I would crawl in bed with her to watch Nic at Night with while she fell asleep and I was balled up in her arms. I can remember thinking she was the most beautiful Mom ever seen. [I still think that] I was very close to her as a baby, as a little girl, as teenager, and even now. We live a whoopn' 5 minutes from each other [You're thinking sCaReY] No way! I have coffee with her every morning [Monday-Friday]. The days I don't, I feel kinda sad. She's one of my greatest friends and I'd be lost the day I no longer have her with me. She is my Backbone. She's my number fan and probably has bigger dreams for myself than I do. I can't do anything without calling her up for help.

[We've always had songs for each other & I've always told her, when I marry, I will have a Mother Daughter Dance! I always imagined, Wind Beneath My Wings, but My Sister beat me too it... So, here it is! This song couldn't be ANY better! Although, let me clarify, I am not engaged... yet!]

Now, she did remarry.
I was 9 years old when Mama let us meet Aaron, my Dad. [CrAzY name Huh???] He had three older children and wasn't sure if he was ready to take on an 18 year old, a 15 year old, and a 9 year old. But, he did. He loved Mama so, & he fell in love with us! He didn't replace my daddy. You never can. But, he did fill the shoes as a Dad, as my Dad, as our Dad & played the part. He is an incredible person! Aaron & I bonded from the start. Aaron, too is a fun, caring, gerenous, all around kind of man... But, most of all, he's my Dad! Always will be!

My Daddy-
As I said, Daddy lived in the Virgin Islands & came back when I was four. No hard feelings whatsoever, but I don't think I bonded with him, as my Sister and Brother did. Of course, I was only 9 months old. For years, he was here in Georgia. He would take us all over, and do different things with us. Later in the years, when he attended his High School Reunion, He met the girl he dated before Mama, Diane. She's awesome, & perfect for him. That's why they got married! :D Daddy is the number gentleman I know. I know a lot, but he's a true yankee and say what you want, but northners know how to take care of a woman. Where down south, the woman cooks, cleans, and is the Southern Wife. The men dote over their wives up there. Daddy is a great example of that. He's actually living in New York as we speak. Hopefully, things will change in the future!

Hi I'm a new follower! I love this post! It's great seeing someone write about parents they have that are not the typical situation. I have a toddler and am going through a not so great situation with her father. The one thing I'm worried about is her turning out "okay" through it all. But it seems like you did and your mom found a great man in the end so I just have to keep my head up & hope for the best :) Thank you.
